The End of Excitement

Being a lover of Detroit and thus an unabashed car buff, it was no doubt jarring to watch as some of the most storied car brand of our time fell to their deaths in the wake of the recent economic downturn and near-implosion of the auto industry.

Though it has been common knowledge for quite some time that GM’s Pontiac division was down and out, it was only made officially official a week or so ago when the very last brand-new Pontiac was sold. That final Pontiac, by the way, to be delivered to a customer was a shiny, new Solstice Coupe.

In any case, in one last final hurrah, Jalponik offers up a eulogy of sorts to honor the brand the brought us the everything from the GTO to the Trans Am, and most importantly, excitement (we’ll just try to forget about the likes of the Sunfire, G3, Montana and the mediocrity that soon followed) .

And with that, we bid thee farewell Pontiac, it was quite a run. Quite a run, indeed.
